The Capital Grille Restaurant

Capital Grille custom woodworking project

Our Latest Project – The Capital Grille, Downtown Chicago

When it comes to fine dining you can’t do much better than The Capital Grille restaurants, and for an upscale steakhouse chain they are the best of the best. That’s why we were very proud when they contracted us to do some custom woodwork in their Lombard location. That project went so well that they asked us to do a reconfiguration of their downtown Chicago location. Being just one block from The Magnificent Mile shopping district downtown they want the atmosphere of their restaurant to project refined elegance. We were happy to provide the quality craftsmanship they required.

We helped them with a reconfiguration of their dining area. We were able to take a large room and break into two dining areas, where one could be utilized as a private dining room. This separation was accomplished with the addition of a custom made barn door that had to match the existing décor. Leave the barn door open and the area is part of the larger area, closed, this area now becomes a private dining room. The secondary purpose of the barn door was to keep the noise down in this new, private area. All work was done to match the existing wall panel mill work. We did new crown molding, base and wall panels as well as worked on the booths.

One of the challenges of this project was that the restaurant did not want to close during the reconfiguration. We were able to accomplish this by doing the work at night. The Capital Grille was able to remain open during it’s normal business hours.

This job went so well we are now heading to Indianapolis to work on that location of The Capital Grille.
